Passion, Inspiration, and a Sneak Peek

These last couple of weeks have been incredibly inspiring, invigorating, and fulfilling.  I am working on some exciting additions and changes to the business that I cannot wait to share with you (when the time is right, your patience will pay off I promise) and it has all left me feeling as if I could soar, as if anything is possible.  I am excited, no beyond excited, to start releasing all of these changes and sharing the stories with you.

I’ll start by telling you that the biggest source of fuel has come from spending the last 2 months of designing a website (much needed one) and refining/recreating my identity.  I have to tell you that it has been an amazing, thought provoking, project that you will hear all about in a post coming very soon.

In the meantime, I leave you with this sneak peek of what is coming out on Friday:

Thank you to Heather at Thea Creative and I hope you will all stay tuned for some more incredible announcements.

Until Next Time…

The Engagement Series {Part 1}: The Importance of the Engagement Session

Congratulations, you’re engaged!  At this point you’ve probably looked at several wedding photographers (or maybe just 1) and noticed that they either do or do not offer engagement sessions with their packages and you’re probably wondering why it is important.  Well, I for one believe in it so much that every collection I offer includes an engagement session and I am going to tell you why I believe it is so important.

The engagement session for me, as the photographer, provides the opportunity to get to know you as a couple.  Throughout the session I get to see how you interact, how you move together, how you touch; what makes you laugh, blush, smile.  It helps me to see your best angles, body positions, and composition in the most natural way.

For you, the engagement session provides the opportunity to get comfortable in front of your photographer’s camera, get used to how she directs you, and the opportunity to give you even more confidence in what your photographer can do for you on your wedding day.

I also personally believe that the engagement session gives you the chance to fall back in love again and enjoy some quiet moments that are all about your love for each other.  With the craziness and chaos that comes along with planning a wedding, the engagement session puts the focus back on why you are going through that process in the first place (it can get lost) and it puts love back in focus in a very organic way.  For you, it is an opportunity to reconnect and fall in love again.

Here are some of my favorite images from past engagement sessions:

Hopefully you now have a better appreciation for the value of the engagement session as it is one of my favorite sessions to shoot.

Until Next Time

Noa - I love it! Emiro and I never had an engagement session…. Such a pity! I agree with you on how important it is both for the couple and the relationship between couple and photographer.

Love the photos :)

tamar - love them

Andrea and Nate {Engaged} | Wave Hill, Fort Tryon Park Photographer

“Dibs.”  That was what Nate told his friend on the subway the night he met Andrea.  Straight, simple, to the point, and totally Nate.

Andrea and Nate met by chance when they both, on a whim,  attended  a “Meet-up” party for people new-ish to their New York City neighborhoods.  They both “almost didn’t go” but had their own needs in the end to get out of the house and go somewhere and that is where they met.  They knew very soon after they started dating that this was it.  They were in it for the long-run.

This couple is truly special and unique.  They are funny, charming, sentimental, eclectic, and two of the sweetest, warm hearted people you will ever meet.  Andrea is even more special to me because I’ve known her since High School.  We were Drama Nerds together and having her choose me to share her special day meant the world to me as she truly deserves everything good this world has to offer.

I could tell how much Andrea loved Nate and how special he must be just by her Facebook feed (I’m not a creeper stalker or anything, we’ve been FB friends for a while:)).  I knew that if this was a man worthy of this girl’s heart, he must be a good man, and I was right.  As soon as I met up with Nate and Andrea for our shoot at Wave Hill (where he proposed) I could tell that he had the right spirit.  Nate has a smile to light up the room and warm the coldest winter day and together they are goofy, funny, loving, and all encompassing in their love for each other and their friends.  They also happen to be after my own heart, as they are true foodies.  LOVE.

Our New York City winter day started out at Wave Hill, where we intended to stay the entire time, but, unbeknownst to us, they close way earlier than sunset and we had to find a new location.  Lucky for us, and using some ingenuity, we were close enough to Fort Tryon Park to still catch a beautiful sunset to end our session with.  I challenge you, as you look through these sun-drenched images, NOT to fall in love with this couple.  Go ahead, I dare you.  I double dare you.

Is there anything better than some hot chocolate on a chilli New York evening?

As for that dare, couldn’t do it, could you?  Couldn’t help but fall in love with these two, right?

Andrea and Nate, I am so excited for your wedding in September.

Until Next Time…

Tiffany and Ahmad {Married} | Eventi Hotel, NYC-Wedding Photography

Although it was quite a chili night on the eve of Tiffany and Ahmad’s New York City rooftop wedding (at night, I might add) there was plenty of love and warmth to go around in this intimate affair.

I fell in love with this couple after shooting their Central Park Engagement Session and was so excited to witness them become husband and wife.

Tiffany looked absolutely glowing in her Kenneth Poole dress and Ivanka Trump shoes (a perfect NY tribute, don’t you think?).

This is one H-O-T-T couple!!

And it was truly a magical New York night, lights and all:

The reception was filled with people that showered the couple with love, joy, and just general happiness.  What an amazing night that can only be described with one word:

The next two images really capture just how much fun was had by everyone that attended:

Thank you Tiffany and Ahmad for letting me be a part of this truly special night and to everyone that attended and helped to make it unforgettable.

Until Next Time…

Noa - Gorgeous!!! I’m so happy you posted these, I’ve been dying to see the photos from your NYC wedding. They came out beautiful and I’m sure they’re thrilled with you!!! Love it :)

Pushing My Limits

One of the reasons I love photographing women on their wedding day is because they look so beautiful and they know it (in a non-conceited sort of way).  I love making women feel beautiful, sexy and confident because we so often doubt ourselves.  We worry so much about what others think that we forget how beautiful we are, what we can do, and how we shine.  Women are very fragile and if I can, for one day, make a woman feel good about herself, then I consider that to be a huge success.

This week I took part in a workshop/shoot-out on Staten Island organized by the fabulously talented Natalie Licini along with Jennifer Goldberg Rozenbaum of Jenerations Boudoir and Niel van Niekerk and held at Casa Belvedere (a non for profit organization that hosts small weddings and events.  A great location for an unconventional wedding).  I expected to be inspired and re-energized but what I didn’t expect was how much I would get out of and love the boudoir session taught by Jen.

Because, as I said, I love working with women and making them feel powerful and sexy, I wanted to learn more about how to beautifully pose a woman to most flatter her body, personality, and confidence.  Now, let me tell you, I NEVER thought I would want to do boudoir because, honestly, it scared me.  It scared me to be THAT much in charge of woman’s comfort level (after all, a bride in her full glory is much easier to bring out her confidence, she’s already glowing, then a woman stripped to her underwear).  But after seeing Jen work with the model and seeing her come to life and embrace every inch of her body, I was pushed beyond my limits and loved every moment of it.  This workshop really stretched me to think about how I pose my brides, how I really look at the female body and how we move.  So, here are some (and I apologize for not editing down more, but I just couldn’t choose) of my favorites from the boudoir section of our Triage.

To quote Audrey Hepburn, “I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.”  I leave you with these final two images that just seem so pure and uninhibited and because they just bring a genuine smile to my face.  It’s as if she wasn’t even aware that there were 10 photographers pointing a camera at her.

Thank you Jennifer for being such an amazing teacher, Natalie for being so inspirational and putting together this Tri-age, and to Kristen for being such a super great and beautiful model.

I hope you have been inspired to push yourself beyond your limits and your comfort zone because you never know what great things will come out of it.

Until Next Time…
